"The present invention provides the basis for the development of a safe and effective treatment for hair loss. It describes the novel use of naturally occurring, actin-binding, peptides to activate hair follicles. In animal studies, topical application of such peptides increased the number of active hair follicles at least two-fold. After application three times a week, new hair growth was observed as early as on day 7, and was retained with additional applications. This invention may lead to a treatment for a condition that affects a large percentage of the population"

I got this e-mail from them:

"NIH scientists are continuing their research on this technology and our office is actively pursing development partners. We have received interest from one company for the Asian market (Federal Register notice attached) and I have received numerous informal inquiries from other US and foreign based companies. If you have any specific questions, please let me know."

This is the Asian company mentioned: http://www.leespharm.com/lee.htm

humans soon. It works great in animals and we hope that it will work in

humans. thanks for your interest.

Thanks for your interest in thymosin beta 4 promoting hair growth.

'we did try thymosin beta 4 in a hydrogel (worked great) on rats, mice, nude

mice and aged mice and we also tried it in the formulation used for Rogaine

and it worked well there. The NIH is trying to license it to companies

now...you likely found the announcement for companies on the internet. One

company has already finalized the license in Taiwan. It is generally not

available yet or tested in humans for hair growth. Regenerx will be testing

it for wound repair. They do not have the license for the hair growth

activity.

I think it will have to go thru the FDA

but it should be quick as it is already approved just a few months ago for

topical use in wound healing. It is currently in a phase 1 clinical trial

in the US for wound healing. a company in taiwan has licensed it already

and will be selling it there for hair growth. I am not sure what

regulations they have in Taiwan. More companies in the US will likely be

licensing it for hair growth. I expect it will be available if it works in

humans in a year.
