komillolevington
Where to look for freelance commissions: Reddit Reddit is BY FAR my favorite place to find small commissions. About 80% of my work comes from Reddit, and the rest comes from regular clients. You can post ads or respond to ads on Forhie, which is where I go. I get a lot of commissions for portraits and book covers; people posting commissions usually have small budgets and just want to commission a drawing for friends. DeviantArt/Tumblr Forums You can use these sites if you're doing very cheap work OR if you're already very popular on these sites! I had a very hard time finding commissions on these sites above the minimum price. Of course, some people get tons of commissions if they have a large following on these sites, and it's worth a try! ConceptArt The job forum on Conceptart.org is for larger projects or full-time work. Come here if you're serious about freelancing and looking for a lot of professional work. I haven't applied for commissions on this forum yet, as I only freelance part-time, but I'll definitely come back here when I finish college or have summer vacation to dedicate to a big project. JohnStephenson
On traditional platforms and in the community, simply stating you're a freelancer is no longer enough. Specifics, a niche, results, and case studies are key. This is even more noticeable in more technical fields. For example, in the blockchain niche, clients are always looking not just for a developer, but for someone with experience in specific networks. Specialized lists like here , which feature freelancers specializing in smart contract development, clearly show that demand is for specific competencies, not generalist programmers.
