HOW WIDE SHOULD DONOR STRIPS BE?

Estraggo i due paragrafi sotto riportati dal sito del Dottor Cole, perché spesso nel forum si parla del problema della cicatrice nell'area donatrice, che é poi la causa dell'enorme interesse che si sta evidenziando nei confronti della FUE.

"Both the length and width of donor strips are decided upon on the basis of multiple factors that are discussed elsewhere in this chapter. The number of FU desired and scalp laxity, however, are two of the most important ones. Bernstein, Rassman, and Seager frequently excise strips that extend from ear-to-ear, or sometimes further anteriorly, and are 12-15 mm wide at their widest points. In the post-auricular areas, however, where the scalp is tighter than elsewhere, the strip may be made considerably narrower.

 

Seager, for example, when trying to obtain 2,500 to 3,000 or more FU, commonly removes a strip that is 8 mm wide superior to the auricle, but is usually 1.2 to 1.5 cm wide, and occasionally even wider, in the mid-occipital region, yet only approximately 7 mm wide in the post-auricular area.* In trying to produce such large numbers of FU in a single session, he generally will excise the maximum width of tissue that allows for closure with reasonable tension in each area. The effect of the preceding is that the shape of the donor strip is often "wave-like" rather than a long rectangle or ellipse, and is usually no more than 1.2 cm wide at its widest point."

 

Da quanto sopra sembra di capire che i maggiori chirurghi della calvizie americani ritengono che per evitare problemi di tensione e di evidenza di cicatrici sia meglio limitare la larghezza della striscia plelevata ad una misura che va a seconda dei vari medici, dagli 8 mm ad un massimo di 1,5 centimetri anche nel caso di megasession. Addirittura piu' avanti nel testo che non ho riportato interamente per ovvie ragioni di spazio, si dice che é meglio avere un maggior numero di strip nucali ma di ridotta larghezza.
